University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame
Theodore P. Budzyna 1938 - Baseball, Football, Track and Field
Theodore P. Budzyna, a 1972 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, is considered one of the most versatile athletes ever to attend the University of Vermont. Budzyna was a three-sport star for the Green and Gold and was voted the "best all-around" athlete at Vermont from 1935-37. He served as the captain of the baseball team, was a standout football player, and at one time was the possessor of the University's javelin record in track and field.
Pointing out his amazing versatility, he was the first University of Vermont student ever to qualify as a freshman in the National Sigma Delta Psi honorary athletic fraternity and he was also highest scorer in the Cozen's Test (physical education test taken upon entrance into college) in the country while at Vermont.
