Jaime Sifers '06, Men's Hockey | Video Introduction
Sifers is one of two players in UVM men's hockey program history to captain the team for three years. In 2006, he was a finalist for the prestigious Hockey Humanitarian Award, given annually to college hockey's finest citizen who gave back to his community in the true humanitarian spirit. Sifers earned all-conference honors from two different leagues during his career with the Catamounts. In his junior campaign, he was a finalist for the Walter Brown Award, which is given to the best American-born player in New England. Sifers closed out his career as a preliminary nominee for the Hobey Baker Award and was named captain of Inside College Hockey's 2005-06 "Dream Team". Following graduation, Sifers went on to a consistent professional career. An undrafted player, he made his professional debut in 2005-06 with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL and later signed a two-year entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. In 2008-09, his third season with the Maple Leafs, he made his NHL debut and played in 23 games. This past season, Sifers signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets and played for the Erie Lake Monsters. Serving as an assistant captain, he posted 19 points on five goals and 14 assists in 67 games with the Monsters. Sifers helped the franchise hoist its first Calder Cup, the pinnacle championship of the AHL.
