In January 2011, the University of Vermont Athletic Department unveiled a renovated space at its Patrick Gymnasium complex. The Multi-Purpose Facility has been repurposed into an indoor turf facility for the winter months.
"The installation of indoor artificial turf will help us address some of the winter weather challenges which we face in Vermont," said Dr. Robert Corran, then Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics at Vermont.
The facility, which was funded through a combination of private donations and department funds, has been transformed into a 300x100 foot indoor turf area. The surface is comprised of 1,064 panels of Nexxfield XGen.E2 turf.
The entire campus community, as well as varsity sports programs use the facility. UVM's Campus Recreation department holds various activities on the turf and the
men's and women's soccer and men's and women's lacrosse
programs use the facility to train throughout the winter months.Â
