Arthur M. "Rusty" Brink 1966 - Football

Looked upon many as one of the finest football players ever to play for the University of Vermont, Rusty Brink earned All-East, All-New England and All-Yankee Conference honors as a linebacker in the mid-1960s. Inducted into the UVM Hall of Fame in 1979, there were few players who played with the intensity that he did and the honors he gathered in during his playing career were well deserved.

A starting center-linebacker for three years at UVM, Brink earned all-conference honors every year captaining the 1965 club that went 6-2. In his three varsity years at Vermont, the Catamounts won 19 of 24 games, the most successful three-season stretch in the 73-year history of the sport at UVM.

In addition to the regional honors won, Brink was named the State of Vermont's top football player in 1964 and 1965. During his career, he was a five-time weekly All-ECAC selection his junior and senior years. Also he was selected to the All-Yankee Conference Academic Squad.

His son, Damon, was a standout first baseman on the Vermont baseball team graduating from UVM in 1994.
