The Archie Post Athletic Complex, which is made up of Moulton Winder Field, the Frank H. Livak '41 Track & Field Facility, and Virtue Field, was named in honor of former UVM basketball, track and cross country star Archie Post in 1969. He attended UVM in the mid 1920s and captained the basketball, track, and cross country teams.
Â
A member of UVM's Athletic Hall of Fame, he served as class president during his undergraduate years and was a member of two honor societies (Gold Key and Key & Serpent). Following his graduation, Post served as track coach at UVM for 40 years, during which time he produced one New England and two Yankee Conference cross country championship teams. Vermont registered a streak of 16 consecutive collegiate track & field championships during Post's tenure.
Post, a native of Hinesburg, Vermont, retired from coaching in 1969, at which time the University honored him and his achievements by naming the facility after him.
