Peter D. Baldwin 1968 - Soccer
Not coincidentally, Peter Baldwin's best years as a soccer player were also some of the best years of UVM's soccer program. With Baldwin, a 1984 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, scoring 29 goals and 10 assists, the Catamounts went 23-6 during the three-year span of 1965-1967, winning the Yankee Conference title all three seasons.
Baldwin was a study of consistency for UVM, notching nine goals his sophomore season, 11 his junior year, and nine more as a senior. In the same seasons, the Hal Greig-coached Cats had records of 7-2-0, 9-2-0, and 7-2-0. At the time, his 29 goals set a school record. He remains the most prolific scorer of the 1960s, and his output of 11 goals and four assists in 1966 set a school single-season mark at the time.
Career-wise, he remains second on the all-time scoring list behind only fellow Hall of Famer John Koerner '78, who had 45 goals, 26 assists over four seasons. Among his individual honors, Baldwin was an All-Yankee Conference First-team selection in both his junior and senior seasons, and won All-State honors in each of his three years. He led UVM in scoring his last two seasons.
With his induction, Baldwin became the second UVM men's soccer player inducted into the Hall of Fame following close friend and classmate Jeff Taft '68. Baldwin returned to the UVM soccer program in 1975 serving as assistant varsity coach to Paul Reinhardt until 1981.
