MacKay '18 Named NLL Finals MVP as Bandits Clinch Third Consecutive NLL Title

Buffalo, N.Y. - Former Catamount standout Ian MacKay '18 captured the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Championship Saturday night as a member of the Buffalo Bandits for the third consecutive season. He was also named Finals MVP after adding seven goals and five assists in the finals.

Buffalo defeated the Saskatchewan Rush, 15-6, in Game 3 of the NLL Finals. MacKay went up against another former Catamount in Brock Haley '24, who just wrapped up his rookie season for the Rush.

"Incredible professional achievement by Ian MacKay. He truly epitomizes what it means to be a Catamount and sets the bar for what our guys want to achieve in any of their professional careers," said head coach Chris Feifs. "I am proud to have worn the Green and Gold during his time, and I know he is not done yet!"

The Bandits won every playoff game but one en route to the franchise's seventh championship. Vermont's all-time leading goal scorer in six playoff games had 16 goals, eight assists, and 27 loose balls. Throughout the 18-game regular season, MacKay finished with 37 goals, 17 assists, and 94 loose balls.

It is the fourth consecutive season in a row that a former Catamount has captured the NLL title. In 2022, Warren Jeffrey '18 played an important defensive role on Colorado's championship squad.
