BURLINGTON, Vt. – Charlie Pope,
Max Frattaroli, and
Cullen Decker all recorded a hat-trick en route Vermont's (5-6, 3-2 AE) 17-9 victory over UMass Lowell (4-8, 1-4 AE) on Saturday evening from Virtue Field during Senior Day presented MVP Health Care. The Catamounts scored eight unanswered goals to finish the game, keeping the Riverhawks off the scoreboard for the final 17:20 minutes of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Riverhawks began the game with a hot start, scoring three unanswered goals, gaining a 3-0 advantage with 10:59 on the clock in the opening frame.
- Frattaroli got Vermont on the scoreboard with 4:51 on the clock in the first quarter, pinning the back of the net for his 12th tally of the season, cutting the Catamount deficit to two, 3-1.
- Sophomore Jack Combs gave Vermont its second goal of the game with four seconds remaining in the opening quarter, corralling the rebound off Decker's initial shot and lofting the ball over the Riverhawk goalies shoulder, scoring his fourth goal of the season as the Catamounts trailed by one goal, 3-2, heading into the second frame.
- UMass Lowell opened scoring in the second frame with 10:50 on the clock, but the Catamounts quickly responded, seeing Max Goldstein feed Decker for his 13th goal of the season, electing to rifle a shot to the top left corner, making the score 4-3 in favor of UMass Lowell with 8:52 remaining in the first half.
- Tatum Lewis registered his second goal of the season at the 5:22 mark of the second quarter, followed by Frattaroli striking for the second time in the game less than a minute later while being a man-up, knotting the contest at 5-5 with 4:39 to go in the first half.
- Matthew Drimmie scored a go-ahead goal for the Catamounts while being a man-up with 3:25 left in the second quarter, his 13th tally of the season as Vermont gained a 6-5 advantage.
- After a quick response from UMass Lowell to tie the game, Zach Davis displayed an incredible individual effort, running around the net and into the slot avoiding Riverhawk defenders from every direction, slipping a shot to the bottom right corner for his seventh goal of the season, regaining Vermont the lead, 7-6 as the first half came to an end.
- The Riverhawks opened scoring to begin the third quarter, knotting the game at 7-7.
- Vermont native Sam Bowen regained the lead for the Catamounts, cashing in on his fourth goal of the season as Vermont went up by one, 8-7, with 7:15 on the clock in the third frame.
- Pope made it 9-7 in favor of Vermont while being a man-up, cashing in on his eighth goal of the season with 6:43 on the clock in the third quarter.
- Decker countered two goals from UMass Lowell to tie the game with a goal of his own, his second tally of the game, earning the Catamounts a 10-9 lead entering the final quarter of action. Luke Reiter was awarded an assist on the go-ahead goal.
- Bowen opened scoring in the final quarter with his second goal of the game, followed by Drimmie executing a highlight reel behind the back goal 48 seconds later, earning the Catamounts a 12-9 advantage with 11:28 of gametime remaining.
- Pope collected two more unassisted goals in under four minutes, securing his hat-trick, bringing Vermont ahead 14-9 with 7:57 remaining in the game.
- Frattaroli registered his hat-trick goal with 4:32 remaining, shooting with his left to beat the UMass Lowell goalkeeper left side high, earning the Catamounts a 15-9 lead.
- Decker found the back of the net 31 seconds later, securing his hat-trick goal with 4:02 on the clock, pinning his shot top right after corralling a pass from Reiter, giving Vermont a 16-9 advantage.
- Finn O'Hara notched his first goal of the season with 2:53 of gametime remaining, tipping Charlie O'Brien's initial shot, beating the Riverhawk goalkeeper to the top right corner, earning the Catamounts a 17-9 lead.
- No goals were scored for the remainder of the game as Vermont walked away with the 17-9 home victory during Senior Day.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Decker and Frattaroli both tied a game high four points, each scoring three goals and one assist. Decker also tied a season high five shots on goal.
- Pope finished with three goals and a game high eight shots on net.
- O'Hara notched his first goal of the season against UMass Lowell.
- Walter Zhao registered a career high 18 faceoff wins, going 18-21 from the faceoff dot. Zhao also corralled a game high and career high 10 ground balls.
- Davis recorded a season high three ground balls to go along with one goal and one assist.
- Connor Huguenard and Combs each secured a tied game high two caused turnovers. Combs also added one goal and three ground balls.
- UVM outshot UMass Lowell 52-30, pinning 35 shots on net to the Riverhawks 13.
- Vermont earned 33 ground balls to UMass Lowell's 23.
- The Catamounts went 21-29 from the faceoff dot.
