HANCOCK/RIPTON, Vt. – Mackenzie Wood secured his fourth podium appearance on Friday afternoon from the Middlebury Snow Bowl in Hancock, Vt, placing third in the slalom race, his fourth time seeing the podium this season and fourth time in his last six races. Overall, Vermont stands in third place with 356.5 total points. Host school Middlebury leads the way in first place with 438.5 total points followed by Dartmouth in second with 432 points.

Day 1 Results
On the slopes, the Alpine team had impressive showings from both the men and the women in their slalom races, seeing the men finish with the most points out of any school and the women finish with the second most points out of any school during day one of the Middlebury Carnival. For the men, Wood raced to a team best third place finish with a two-run time of 1:32.46 while
Magnus Berge Styren and Cole Palchal each finished in the top 10. Styren placed sixth in the slalom with a two-run time of 1:32.84 and Palchal placed ninth with a two-run time of 1:32.98. Styren has finished in the top 10 in all five of his slalom races this year. Palchal places top 10 in the slalom for the second time this season.
On the women's portion of Alpine, four Catamounts finished in the top 15.
Cydnie Timmermann finished fifth, a team best for the women, racing a two-run time of 1:36.88. Timmermann has finished within the top 10 in all five of her slalom races this season.
Justine Clément raced to sixth place with a two-run time of 1:36.94. Clement posted the fastest first run time on the day for the women, finishing in just 48.15 seconds.
Hanna Larsson Nathhorst placed 10th with a two-run time of 1:37.56, her first top 10 finish in the slalom this season.
Nordic competed in a 1.3k Classic Sprint in Ripton, Vt. from the Rikert Nordic Center.
Owen Young was the lone Catamount from the men's side to qualify, overall finishing in 11th with a time of 3:24.17. On the women's side of the Nordic race,

Annie McColgan,
Marielle Ackermann, and
Molly Moening all qualified for the heats. Helland finished with the second fastest qualifier run, finishing with a time of 3:58.53. Helland made it to the semifinal heats as a lucky loser, finishing her second run with a time of 3:53.16 while McColgan also made it to the semifinal heat finishing her second run with a time of 3:52.92. Overall, Helland secured a team best ninth place finish followed by McColgan recording a 12th place overall finish.
Day two of the Middlebury Carnival concludes tomorrow (Feb. 15) when men's and women's alpine competes in the giant slalom in Hancock, Vt. from the Middlebury Snow Bowl while Nordic wraps up with a 10k Classic Interval Start from Ripton, Vt. at the Rikert Nordic Center. Women's Alpine's giant slalom first run is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. followed by the men's first run at 10:15 a.m. On the Nordic side, the men compete in the 10k Classic Individual Start first at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women at 12:30 p.m.
