With the win, Yale evens its record at 2-2, while the Catamounts are now 1-3 following the setback.
Hanna Crymble,
Sydney Smith and
Candice Wright all led UVM with 11 points apiece.
"I have to give Yale a lot of credit for the energy they came out with," said head coach
Chris Day. "We just didn't match it. We had great looks today but we just couldn't get one to go down when we desperately needed it. We will bounce back."
The Bulldogs came out firing from the opening tip, stringing together a 13-2 run after UVM jumped out to an early 5-4 lead.
UVM made a strong effort to battle coming out of halftime and used a 3-pointer from Wright to get within 10 at the 5:41 mark of the third quarter. Yale responded with a 9-2 sequence to re-bolster its lead.
The fourth quarter saw a similar path, as the Catamounts netted the first seven points of the period to narrow the score to 53-42. Yale then posted 15 of the game's next 19 points.
The Bulldogs forced 19 turnovers on the afternoon and converted that figure into 22 points.
Vermont now returns home and prepares to host the TD Bank Classic, beginning on Friday (Nov. 25). UVM will host NJIT that evening at 7 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium.
