VERMONT WOMEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTEBOOKThe Vermont Catamounts begin the week sitting in second place in the America East standings. UVM picked up an important point with a 1-1 draw at Hartford on Sunday. Vermont travels to UMass Lowell for a 7 p.m. match on Thursday (Oct. 15) and will host Albany on Sunday (Oct. 18) at 1 p.m.

THE CATAMOUNTSVermont owns a 6-5-2 record (3-1-1 America East). The Catamounts are off to their best start in league play since 2001.
Sydney Cammeyer's goal in the 22nd minute, her first career goal, gave UVM a 1-0 lead at Hartford, but the Hawks came back to tie the game up in the 89th minute and the game ended in a draw after two overtime periods.
Nikki McFarland leads the team in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
Caitie Green has tallied nine points and
Sarah Martin is tied with McFarland for the team lead in assists with two and has eight points on the season.
Ally Ramos is the team's top goalkeeper, having started all 13 games. She carries a 1.41 goals against average and has posted four shutouts.
ABOUT UMASS LOWELLUMass Lowell (4-10-0, 1-3-0 AE) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory against Binghamton. Freshman Katelyn Vieira leads the River Hawks in goals (7) and points (16), which ranks fourth and fifth, respectively in the conference. Shannon Groffie has netted four goals, including three game-winners. Julia Schneider is the team's top goalkeeper and owns a .656 save percentage with three shutouts.
THE SERIESThursday is just the third meeting between the two teams. The series is tied at 1-1-0. UVM picked up a 3-1 victory at UMass Lowell In the first-ever meeting in 2013, but the River Hawks posted a 1-0 win in double-overtime at Virtue Field last season.
ABOUT ALBANYThe Great Danes are 6-7-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in league play. Albany has dropped two straight, falling 1-0 at New Hampshire on October 4 and dropping a 2-0 decision at Stony Brook on October 8. The Great Danes face Hartford on Thursday before traveling to Vermont for Sunday's match. Alexa Schneider is one of three players in double-digits in points for Albany. She has tallied five goals and four assists for a team-leading 14 points. Vivian Vega has added a team-high six goals and 13 points and Kiana Rugar has tallied 11 points on four goals and three assists. Vega was recently invited to tryout with the U20 Mexican National Team ahead of the 2015 CONCACAF Women's U20 Championship in December. Alana Brennan is the team's top goalkeeper. She has posted three shutouts and owns a .775 save percentage.
