BURLINGTON, VT. – Emma Warren and Lauren DeGroot each notched a goal as Vermont (8-4-6, 5-1-2 AE) fell to Maine (6-7-4, 3-3-2 AE) 2-2 (4-3 in Penalty Kicks) at Virtue Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the third minute, Emma Warren scored from the left side of the box off Della Weir's cross, going top shelf over Maine's outstretched goalkeeper.
• In the 15th minute, Lauren DeGroot made a run but was called offside.
• In the 18th minute, Sydney Remington sent a looping through ball to Lauren DeGroot, who finished off the left post. Vermont led 2-0.
• Ten minutes later, Maine scored on a corner kick following a punch-out by Kylee Carafoli. Vermont led 2-1 in the 28th minute.
• At halftime, Vermont led 2-1.
• In the 52nd minute, Maine scored a curler from outside the box past Kylee Carafoli, tying the game 2-2.
• One minute later, Sydney Remington shot from outside the box, but Maine's goalkeeper made the save.
• In the 63rd minute, Maine threatened inside the box, but Carafoli crouched to make the save.
• In the 75th minute, Lauren DeGroot had a one-on-one, but Maine's goalie made a diving save.
• In the 87th minute, Aubrey Bough's looping shot from outside the box hit the crossbar before Maine's goalie corralled it.
• The game went into overtime tied at 2.
• In the 93rd minute, Maine hit the left post, but Vermont cleared the rebound.
• In the second overtime, Kylee Carafoli made a diving save to her right from a shot in the box.
• The game remained tied and went into a penalty kick shootout.
• Amelia Adiutori converted the first penalty. Maine responded. Bridget Kennedy scored, and Maine matched. DeGroot's penalty was saved, and Maine converted again. Della Weir scored. Maine converted their fourth; Vanessa Smith missed Vermont's fifth.
