Track and Field Puts Together Day of Competition at George Davis Invitational

George Davis Invitational
Lowell, Mass. – Vermont track competed at UMass Lowell for the second time this season and recorded four individual victories among numerous personal bests.

"Quite a contrast in weather…really good conditions for jumps and throws…little tougher on our distance runners with temps in the 80's. That said, we had some really good performances throughout the meet. Izzy Fryer and Liz Lembach were especially strong in their races in the heat. The women in the 400 hurdles did a nice job in their 1-2-3 sweep," said head coach Matt Belfield. "Highlights in the field events were Eli Lammi with the 3rd best mark in UVM history with his almost 15-foot PR. Emma's javelin was a really strong mark that gets her in the hunt for some big post-season action. Adriana's discus was a hard-earned best after a couple years of challenges. Knute and Carolena had good days in the LJ and Ryleigh's PR in the high jump was great too."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Cara Richardson won the discus with a throw of 29.48 meters. She also came in 10th in the shot-put, throwing 10.11 meters.
Bennett Harrison-Michaels won the steeplechase with a time of 9:27.71.
Malachi Plociennik won the discus with a throw of 35.25 meters. He also came in 13th in the hammer with a throw of 35.39 meters.
Sophia Filali won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.19.
Isabella Fryer ran 9:58.96 in the 3000 to finish second.
Hope Tyska finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 11:25.03.
Ryleigh Garrow placed second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.46. She was fourth in the high jump, with a leap of 1.60 meters.
Morgan Ryan vaulted 3.40 meters in the pole vault to come in second.
Rachel Barba was second in the 1500 with a time of 4:36.05.
Samantha Alexander finished second in the invitational discus with a throw of 41.05 meters.
Kenneth Morrissey was second in the 1500 with a time of 4:01.28. He was also sixth in the 400 with a time of 50.62.
Erin Carty placed second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.50. She was also eighth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.37.
Clare Kelly finished second in the 5000 with a time of 17:50.24.
The men's 4x400 relay placed second with a time of 3:21.94.
Emma Wapshare finished second in the javelin with a throw of 43.34, the sixth-longest in program history. She was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 10.89 meters.
The men's 4x100 relay team was third with a time of 42.41.
Carmella Thompson placed third in the discus with a throw of 26.08 meters. She was also 15th in the hammer with a throw of 32.12 meters.
Eli Lammi was third in the invitational discus with a throw of 47.80 meters, the third longest in program history.
Sophie Christopher was third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.60.
Elizabeth Lembach placed third in the 5000 with a time of 18:22.85.
William Locke came in third in the 5000 with a time of 15:10.49.
Conor Moses came in third in the javelin with a throw of 56.68 meters.

UP NEXT
The Catamounts will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Amherst for the third time this season to compete in the Preconference Invitational at UMass Amherst.
