BURLINGTON, Vt. – Anna Olson led all scorers with a season-high 22 points as Vermont (13-11, 8-2 AE) defeated UAlbany (19-5, 9-2 AE) on Saturday afternoon.

"I thought we did a much better job of taking them out of their rhythm, especially in the second half, then our first time around," said Mayer Head Women's Basketball Coach Alisa Kresge. "I think we are finally getting over the hump in terms of confidence, to find a way to be confident and make big shots and big plays. I hope we continue to build off this and stick in this direction because this was the most consistent we have been for 40 minutes this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Catamounts opened on a 10-4 run with four points from Olson and Catherine Gilwee. Nikola Priede added two as well.
The Great Danes closed the first quarter on a 7-2 run, with Olson scoring the lone bucket in that stretch.
UAlbany opened the second quarter on a 12-4 with Olson scoring all four points.
Following the second media timeout, Vermont closed the half on an 11-6 run with seven points from Gilwee, two from Olson, and a free throw from Priede and Bella Vito.
The two teams traded buckets to open the half with the Catamounts, outscoring the Great Danes 8-7. Olson and Priede each had four points in the stretch.
UAlbany closed the third quarter on a 4-2 run, with Keira Hanson scoring the lone bucket.
The Catamounts opened the fourth on an 8-3 run with six points from Olson and two from Sarah Ericson.
Following the final media timeout, Vermont closed on a 14-7 run with seven points from Hanson, five from Ericson, and two from Gilwee.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Olson led the scoring with 22 points on a career-high 10 field goals. Gilwee was second with a season-high 13 points, while Hanson was third with nine.
Ericson led the Catamounts in rebounds with seven. Priede was second with five, while Gilwee and Vito were tied for third with four.
Gilwee led the Vermont distribution with four assists. Ericson and Vito were tied for second with two, while Olson and Priede each had an assist.
On the defensive end, the Catamounts had seven steals and five blocks, while Priede had three steals and two blocks.
