WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK
Vermont (3-4-2, 0-0-2 AE) will travel to Cushing Field in Massachusetts on Thursday, September 29 to face UMass Lowell (3-5-2, 0-1-0 AE). The start time for that match will be 7 p.m. and it will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Clinic Highlights
The women's soccer team hosted a youth clinic on Tuesday, September 27 for children 12 and younger. Youth members of the community were able to come out and enjoy an amazing time learning new skills on Virtue Field with the Vermont women's soccer coaches and student athletes.
SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE
Both teams are seeking their first America East victory of the season, while the Catamounts have been tough on the road UMass Lowell has been just as dominant at home. The Catamounts are still unbeaten at 0-0-2, while the River Hawks are 0-1-0 with a loss to UAlbany. Vermont has tied their first two matches of America east play, with a 0-0 draw at home versus UMBC, and a 1-1 tie on the road against Bryant. On the road this season the Catamounts have recorded a 3-1-1 record. In road matchups this season UVM has outscored their opponents 9-4 including three shutout victories.
Kate Bossert has scored two of her three goals this season on the road, while
Jill Brody has also recorded both of hers away from Virtue Field. UMass Lowell is 3-1-0 at home this season having outscored their opponents 11-5, with victories over Merrimack, Dartmouth and Stonehill. Sophomore Ioanna Papatheodorou has been dominant scoring four of the River Hawks 11 goals, while Chloe Layne has added two goals at home this season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the 10th matchup between the Catamounts and River Hawks, with the first matchup coming in Massachusetts in 2013. The series has been deadlocked over the years with each team winning three games and tying three (3-3-3). The Catamounts won the last matchup in 2021 at Cushing Field 2-1, when
Alyssa Oviedo sunk a penalty kick in the 106th minute to give the Cats' that victory. Overall, in the series Vermont holds a 10-9 goal advantage and has not lost since 2018.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks are led by sophomore Ioanna Papatheodorou, who is tied for third in the America East, with five goals on the season, including a hat trick versus Stonehill. Papatheodorou has also chipped in two assists on the season, for a total of 12 points, good for third in the America East. Junior Chloe Layne has chipped in three goals and two assists on the season, while classmate Calliste Brookshire has also contributed three goals along with one assist. UMass Lowell is anchored in net by redshirt junior Taylor Burgess who has 24 saves on a .667 save percentage and 2.18 goals against average.
UP NEXT
The Catamounts will return to Virtue Field on October 2 when they host Binghamton. The kickoff for that game is slated for 12 p.m. This game will be the Catamounts annual Youth Day presented by Healthy Living. There will be a variety of special activities starting at 11 a.m. as well as a Postgame Pass with the Cats. Catamount kids 12 and younger will receive free admission to the game and we encourage them to wear their favorite soccer jersey to the game.
