BURLINGTON, Vt. – Women's basketball opened the 2021-22 campaign Friday night defeating NVU-Johnson 92-25 in exhibition action from Patrick Gym.
Anna Olson led the Catamounts in scoring with 13 points on the night seven Vermont players had seven or more points in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- First year Aryana Dizon keyed a fast start for the Catamounts with four points and five rebounds as UVM built a 14-4 edge at the first media timeout. Vermont closed out the opening frame with 14 unanswered points to take a 28-4 advantage into the break.
- The Catamounts held a 51-12 lead at the half aided by a game-high 10 points from sophomore guard Leiya Stuart. Vermont scored 16 points in transition in the first half.
- Josie Larkins and Maddy Smith hit three pointers early in the third quarter and Anna Olson had six quick points as UVM pushed its advantage to 65-16.
- Vermont closed out the contest with a 14-0 run over 4:30 in the fourth quarter that included two three-pointers from first year Maria Myklebust. She ended the night four-for-four from downtown with 12 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vermont assisted on 21 of its 38 made field goals tonight. Emma Utterback led the way in that category with a game-high five assists.
- Aryana Dizon, Catherine Gilwee, Bella Vito and Maria Myklebust made their green and gold debut Friday night. Together they accounted for 28 of Vermont's 55 bench points.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Vermont Foodbank as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. UVM will open the regular season at home on Tuesday, November 9 at 6 p.m. as they host Merrimack in their season opener. The action will air live on ESPN+ or ESPN3. It will be the Warriors first-ever visit to Patrick Gym.
