POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – American rallied in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat Vermont 68-61 in the Catamounts first overtime game since 2019. With the win, the Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season while the Catamounts fell to 1-1. The Eagles posted back-to-back wins against Marist and Vermont this weekend, while the Catamounts will meet the Red Foxes tomorrow afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles took control of the game in the first quarter, they closed the opening stanza on an 11-0 run over the final 4:41 to take a 22-9 lead into the second quarter.
- Vermont's defense took over in the second quarter just allowing two points on 1-of-15 shooting over the 10 minutes. Leiya Stuart had four points in the quarter for UVM as they cut the deficit to four at the half.
- In the first 3:06 of the third quarter UVM used an 8-0 run with six points from Josie Larkins to take its first lead of the contest 28-24. Over the final 5:08 of the third quarter UVM shutout the American offense and scored 13 points to take a commanding 41-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Sarah Wells and Emma Utterback each had four points in the quarter-ending 13-0 run.
- The game of wild momentum swings continued in the fourth quarter. American used a 19-2 run to claim a four-point edge with 3:07 left in regulation. Anna Olson scored UVM's next four points to tie the game at 47 with 1:49 to go.
- A go-ahead three-pointer by Delaney Richason with 66 seconds remaining was matched by three late points from American's Riley DeRubbo to force overtime.
- American's Jade Edwards had 10 points in the extra session as the Eagles scored the first five points of overtime and never looked back.

- Sophomore forward Anna Olson led the Catamounts with 16 points Saturday. She also posted a team-high three blocked shots and three steals.
- In her second career college basketball game first year Catherine Gilwee played 32 minutes Saturday. She was tied with Emma Utterback for the team-high with four assists.
