SETTING THE SCENE
The Catamounts come into the two-game stretch tied with Hartford for the third-highest scoring offense (7 goals, 3 assists) in America East. UVM has three of its own among the league leaders in points –
Sarah Martin ranks fifth with five points,
Savana Yurick follows in eighth place with four points, and
Brooke Jenkins sits in 10th place with three points. In net,
Coco Speckmaier possesses the fourth-lowest goals-against average at 1.13 and fourth-highest save percentage at .810 in the conference.
LAST TIME OUT | Brown Highlights
Vermont native and freshman midfielder
Ella Bankert recorded her first career goal as a Catamount and lifted UVM to a 2-1 overtime victory over Brown last Saturday. The game-winner was set up by a
Julia Smith cross and Bankert buried a one-timer past Brown netminder Christine Etzel for the walk-of win. The Green and Gold topped the Bears on their home turf for the first time since 1994.
AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
For her overtime efforts, Bankert was named America East Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. The Cuttingsville, Vermont native gave the Catamounts their second straight overtime victory and UVM owns a 3-0 home mark for the first time since 2003.
CONVERTING THE PK
Sarah Martin became the first UVM player to score multiple penalty kick goals in the same season since Emily Millbank '11 in 2010. Martin tallied her second penalty kick goal of the year in the 28th minute versus Brown.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
After reaching the win column against the Bears, Speckmaier is one win shy of cracking the top-10 on the all-time wins list with 11 career victories. The Miami, Florida native is also one shutout away from tying Eliza Bradley '11 for ninth place on the career shutouts list. Speckmaier's 1.23 career goals-against average has solidified the seventh spot among netminders to sport the Green and Gold.
SCOUTING SIENA
The Saints opened the 2017 campaign with wins against Lafayette and Mercer, but fell in their last two games to Georgia Southern and crosstown rival Albany. Siena has tallied 17 points (6 goals, 5 assists) on the season which is tied for the third-most in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Madison Vasquez leads the team in goals (2) while four others have found the back of the net. Sophomore goalie Taylor Dorado has been a wall to begin the season as the 5-6 keeper boasts a 1.00 GAA with one shutout.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
The Eagles are in the midst of a three-game skid. American has been held scoreless in each loss this season but also recorded a pair of goals against Virginia Military Institute for a 2-1 victory in the home opener on Aug. 24. Charly Slavick and Toni Williams contributed one goal apiece while Kyanna Alleyne and Yari Bradfield handed out assists. The Eagles have used three different keepers this season but freshman Ryleigh Brown had a solid outing in a tough loss at George Washington on Monday - three saves and one goal allowed.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Siena will be going head-to-head for the 14th straight season. UVM faces a 4-7-2 all-time record against the Saints, but the previous six matches have been decided by one goal or less. The weekend matchup at American will be the third meeting between the two programs and the first since 2011. The Eagles won the first contest 2-1 in the nation's capital back in 2010 while the Catamounts rebounded a year later with a 1-0 shutout in Burlington.
