SETTING THE SCENE
The Catamounts have tallied 35 points this season on 13 goals and nine assists – the fifth-most among America East teams in both categories. After a three-point performance at Binghamton on Sunday,
Brooke Jenkins has climbed into sixth place on the league's top scoring list with 10 points.
Sarah Martin is tied for fourth place in the conference with three assists and she is two assists shy of moving into a ninth-place tie on the program's career assists list. After setting a new career-high with 13 saves a Binghamton, goalie
Coco Speckmaier moved into sole possession of ninth place on UVM's all-time saves list with 179 career stops. The Miami, Florida native also leads all America East keepers with 71 saves.
LAST TIME OUT
Jenkins scored a goal and dished out an assist as UVM posted a 2-0 win at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. The Cats jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the 25th minute with
Colby Snyder's first goal of the season. Jenkins sent a cross into the middle of the box where Snyder settled the ball and fired a shot into the right corner of the net after the attempt deflected off Binghamton goalkeeper Katie Hatziyianis' gloves. Jenkins sealed the win for Vermont in the 71st minute after
Bridgette King handed out the assist. King passed to Jenkins in the middle of the field where the junior placed a perfect ball into the top right corner of the net.
SECOND CONFERENCE GAME SUCCESS
With the victory at Binghamton, the Catamounts reached the win column in the second conference game of the season for the fourth time in the last five years. UVM beat UMass Lowell 1-0 in overtime last year and topped UMBC with a 2-1 win back in 2014. The Cats were victorious against UMass Lowell again in 2013 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
CAREER COACHING WINS LIST
Head coach
Kristi Lefebvre has tallied 38 wins during her tenure with the Catamounts and she is only three wins shy of tying Jodi Kenyon for second place on the program's all-time wins list. In her first season at the helm in 2011, the Catamounts earned a berth into the America East Tournament for the first time in five years and she has guided the Green and Gold to three semifinals appearances during her time in Burlington – the most by a Vermont head coach.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
Coming into the season, UMass Lowell was tied with Maine for sixth place in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll with 26 points. As the calendar flips into October, the River Hawks are looking to get back on track after dropping their last four contests. Redshirt junior Rachel Morrier leads the team and ranks fifth in the league with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Senior midfielder Andrea Marrow follows with two goals as both scores came during wins against NJIT and Seton Hall. Junior netminder Julia Schneider sits third in the conference with a 0.92 goals-against average and she is tied for third with 61 saves.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Thursday night will be the rubber match between the two programs as the all-time series is deadlocked at 2-2. After UVM won the first matchup in 2013, UMass Lowell responded with back-to-back wins in 2014 and 2015. Martin scored the overtime game-winner for the Catamounts last year at Virtue Field.
