URI Recap
Last Sunday, Emily Wakeford's left-footed strike in the 95
th minute found the back of the UVM net and the Rhode Island Rams upended the Catamounts 2-1 at Virtue Field. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for UVM. After falling behind 1-0 early on, the Cats found the equalizer in the 22
nd minute when rookie
Julia Smith scored her third goal of the season.
Savana Yurick put a nice one-on-one move on a URI defender down the right flank before centering for Smith who finished low far-post for the goal. The second half was absent of any real quality scoring chances for either side but URI capitalized on an early chance in OT to get the win.
