ABOUT VERMONT
The Catamounts qualified for their 10th America East Conference Tournament in program history and fifth in the last six seasons. Kristi Lefebvre has earned more playoff berths than any other head coach in the history of UVM women's soccer, which includes the program's first playoff win last season with a 1-0 shutout over UMBC in the quarterfinal round. Â
Â
Julia Smith finished her first regular season in green and gold with five goals and was tied for fourth most among America East scorers. Sarah Martin and Caitie Green followed in second place on the team with eight points after posting three goals and a pair of assists during the regular season. Goalie Coco Speckmaier played every minute between the pipes and was one of the top keepers in the league. Speckmaier earned an America East Co-Player of the Week on September 19 and ranked fifth in the conference with a 1.07 goals-against average.
AMERICA EAST ALL-CONFERENCE
America East announced the All-Conference and All-Rookie Team selections on Wednesday as three Catamounts landed on the list. Martin was tabbed to the All-Conference Second Team after leading the league in total shots and tallied an overtime game-winning goal in the conference home opener against UMass Lowell on October 2.
Â
Smith and Brooke Jenkins were named to the All-Rookie Team. Smith made an immediate impact to Vermont's offense upon her arrival. Smith was one of the top scorers in America East and led all freshman with her five scores. She started her UVM career off on a strong note with three goals in her first four games and set a new career high with a pair of goals in a 2-1 win against Yale on September 11.
Â
After suffering a season ending injury early last season, Jenkins came back in 2016 and played all 17 games with eight starts for the Catamounts. She ranked seventh on the team in points (2) and shots on goal percentage (.500). Jenkins is a redshirt sophomore who made her conference debut this season.

MCFAR-LAND BEFORE TIME | Binghamton Highlights
For the third time in her career, Nikki McFarland scored the decisive goal against Binghamton to push the Catamounts into the playoffs. McFarland helped the Catamounts to a 1-0 win last Saturday after netting the game-winning goal in the final minute. McFarland was clutch a year ago as she scored the game-winning goal over Binghamton and propelled UVM into the playoffs. In 2013, McFarland achieved the feat once more in double overtime to lift the Catamounts past the Bearcats in Vestal, N.Y. and into the America East playoffs.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
The Seawolves had a total of six players make the All-Conference and All-Rookie lists, while head coach Brendan Faherty and his staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year. After being picked sixth in the preseason poll, Stony Brook finished third during the regular season, its highest finish since 2013. Faherty is the first, first-year head coach to win the award. Stony Brook's six wins during league play match the most in program history. Raven Edwards was named to the All-Conference First Team after her 16 points landed the senior in a second place tie among the league's top scorers. Edwards had a strong counterpart in Priscilla Wiggins, who also made the All-Conference First Team. Wiggins ranked in a fourth place tie with four assists and tied Green with 40 shots during the regular season. Netminder Cara Gallagher finished the regular season positioned second in the league with seven shutouts, including four against America East foes.Â
Â
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont holds a 13-11 edge in the all-time series with Stony Brook. The Seawolves won the regular season matchup 2-0 with a pair of second half goals. The Catamounts snapped a two-game skid against the Seawolves a year ago with a 1-0 win at Virtue Field. UVM won the first nine meetings from 1990-2001. Thursday night's quarterfinal will mark the first meeting between the two squads in the postseason.
