BURLINGTON, Vt. – Daniel Grundel finished off a free kick opportunity for Hofstra in the 22nd minute to lift the Pride to a 1-0 victory over Vermont in non-conference men's soccer action at Virtue Field on Sunday.
Joseph Holland's service from 25 yards out was knocked down by Elliott Firth and over to Grundei who finished off the play with a toe poke past UVM goalkeeper
Conor Leland.
Vermont had several scoring chances in the second half, but the Catamounts were not able to capitalize and Hofstra was able to make the lone goal stand up.
Leland finished the game with three saves in the Vermont net, while Patric Pray and Brian McPartland combined for four saves for Hofstra.
Vermont wraps up non-conference play with a stretch of three games in six days. UVM travels to Brown on September 26 and is at Central Connecticut on September 28 before returning home to host Dartmouth on October 1.
