BURLINGTON, Vt. – Freshman
Sydney Smith scored a career-high 14 points for the Vermont Catamounts, but Courtni Green netted a game and career-high 30 to lead Delaware past UVM, 68-46, in non-conference women's basketball action at Patrick Gymnasium on Saturday. Delaware moves to 2-3 on the season, while Vermont falls to 0-5.
Delaware jumped out to a 13-2 lead to start the game as Vermont struggled offensively, going 1-for-11 from the field. The Catamounts battled back and held the Blue Hens scoreless for a stretch of 8:30 to climb back in the game. UVM used a 9-0 run to slice the lead to two, 13-11 with 7:09 remaining in the first half.

Vermont closed to within two, 31-29, in the opening minutes of the second half on a basket by
Kylie Atwood, but the Blue Hens pushed their lead to 12 behind eight straight points from Green. Delaware extended the lead to 15 at the 8:11 mark of the stanza and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Blue Hens shot 41.3 percent from the floor, while the Catamounts hit 27.1 percent of their shots in the contest.
The Catamounts have a quick turnaround. UVM faces No. 22 Syracuse for a Monday night game in Syracuse, New York. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome and the game will be broadcast on

The Catamounts will also take on Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut on Wednesday (Dec. 3) at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Dartmouth on Sunday (Dec. 7) at 2 p.m.
