Women's Basketball Travels to Boston for First Road Trip of 2014-15

BURLINGTON, Vt. -
 Vermont women's baketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Boston to take on former America East foe Boston University on Saturday (Nov. 22). Tipoff at Case Gymnasium is set for 2 p.m. The game can be heard on WVMT-620 AM (online: SportsJuice.com) with Kevin Fitzgerald on the call. The game will also be streamed via the Patriot League Network at CampusInsiders.com.

LAST TIME OUT - Bryant 72, Vermont 55
UVM dropped a 72-55 decision to Bryant on Tuesday ... Sophomore Kylie Butler and senior Nikki Taylor combined for 25 points and 12 rebounds, but Bryant used a strong second half effort to post the victory ... Butler paced UVM with 15 points and five rebounds, while Taylor chipped in 10 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds ... The Catamounts trailed by four with 9:17 left in the game, but Bryant answered with back-to-back layups to push its lead back to nine ... UVM closed to within five with 5:43 left, but that's as close as the Catamounts would get.

ABOUT BOSTON U
Boston U stands at 1-2 on the season ... The Terriers picked up their first win of the season with a 63-62 win over Harvard ... BU fell, 75-74 at Northeastern in the season opener and lost 73-56 at Boston College in their latest outing on Thursday ... Megan Green leads the Terriers in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg) ... She has also handed out eight assists and is shooting 55.9 percent from the floor ... BU returns six players and adds four newcomers ... The Terriers finished the 2013-14 season with a 13-20 mark and went 7-11 in the team's first year in the Patriot League ... Boston U was picked to finish ninth in the 10-team Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll ... Katy Steding is in her first season as the head coach at BU ... Steding spent the last two seasons at Cal ... She played at Stanford, helping the Cardinal win its first-ever NCAA National Championship. She won a gold medal with the 1996 United States "Women's Dream Team". 

THE SERIES
This is the 73rd meeting between the two schools who used to be foes in the America East Conference ... Boston U made the move to the Patriot League last season ... Boston U owns a 38-34 advantage in the all-time series ...The Terriers have won eight straight over the Catamounts ... The two teams last met on 12/29/13 in Burlington with BU coming away with an 80-62 win.

FAMILY TIES
Kara Sheftic is a freshman on the BU squad this season ... Her sister Alissa was a standout for the Catamounts from 2006-10 and won two America East titles while at UVM and played with current UVM assistant coach Courtnay Pilypaitis ... While Alissa was playing for UVM, Kara was the team's ball girl growing up ... Kara's older brother Matt also played at Vermont (Class of 2003) for the men's team ... He was MVP of the 2003 America East Tournament during which UVM defeated Boston U in the chamionship game at Case Gymnasium ... It was UVM's first Ameica East title and first NCAA appearance.

TAYLOR A LEADER
Senior Niki Taylor is averaging a double-double (11.5 ppg/10.0 rpg) for the Catamounts ... She also ranks among the active leaders in America East in scoring (2nd - 852 career pts) and steals (5th - 95 career) ... Taylor also ranks first among active leaders in rebouding in the league (568 career).
