The 2017 Kay Yow National Coach of the Year, Maureen Magarity, was named the Elizabeth F. Mayer '93 and Paul J. Mayer, M.D. Women's Basketball Head Coach on April 13, 2026.

Magarity guided Holy Cross to back-to-back Patriot League Tournament Championships (2023, 2024) and appearances in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament (2023, 2024) including a First Four 72-45 victory against UT Martin in 2024. Holy Cross recorded three consecutive 20-win seasons under Magarity's tenure. In 2022-23, the Crusaders recorded the second most wins (24) in a single season in program history. The 2022 Patriot League Coach of the Year also set a Crusaders program record with 14 Patriot League wins during the 2022 campaign as they earned the Patriot League Regular Season title.

Prior to her time at Holy Cross Magarity was the Head Coach at New Hampshire in America East for 10 seasons. She left the Wildcats second all-time in wins with 146 total victories. Following a school-record 26-win campaign in 2016-17 Magarity was named America East Coach of the Year, only the second Wildcat coach to be so honored and the first since 1993-94. Magarity was also named the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year in that same season and was a finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award. After being picked to finish sixth in the America East preseason poll, the Wildcats earned their first-ever America East Regular Season title. Along the way, the Wildcats broke the school record for consecutive wins with 13 and they won 19 of their last 20 regular season games. Under Magarity’s tutelage, Carlie Pogue was named America East Player of the Year. She was the second Wildcat to receive the award and first since 1988-89.

Prior to her time as a Head Coach, she served as an Assistant Coach and then was elevated to the title of Associate Head Coach at Army from 2006-10. Magarity's collegiate coaching experience also includes stints as an assistant coach at Fairfield University (2005-06) and Marist College (2004-05).

As a player, Magarity served as team captain her junior and senior seasons and led the Red Foxes to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004. She garnered two All-MAAC Second Team selections and was a 2004 MAAC All-Tournament Team choice. Before transferring to Marist, she played one season at Boston College. While at BC, the Eagles reached the semifinals of the preseason WNIT and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2000.

Magarity earned a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations with a minor in Psychology from Marist College in 2003. In addition, she earned an M.P.A. in Public Administration while at Marist in 2005.
