Loren Dow joined the UVM Athletic Department as an Academic Coordinator in August 2014 and is currently the Associate Director of Academic Services on the Student-Athlete Development team. She earned her Doctorate (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UVM in 2020. Dow’s research interests include first-generation college student success and supporting college students from economically underserved areas. She is also a certified English teacher and reading and writing specialist.
Dow provides academic support and advising to the women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s ice hockey teams at Vermont. She teaches student-athlete development courses, facilitates academic success workshops, and manages the Catamount mentoring program. Dow also serves as the co-chair of the Catamount Professional Development Committee.
Prior to UVM, Dow was an English teacher and varsity girls’ lacrosse coach at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont. Dow earned a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in reading and language from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Originally from Hollis, Maine, Dow lives in Burlington with her husband Rob, head coach of the UVM men's soccer team, son Hanson, and their golden retriever and therapy dog Jack.Â
