COACH'S QUOTE
"Great response tonight after our disappointing weekend last weekend," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "Lauren O'Hara got us going just 10 seconds into the game and we got stronger as the game went on. Our penalty kill was phenomenal, not allowing a single shot on four power plays against, and notching a shorthanded goal. The O'Hara-Retrum-Lewis line is playing some inspired hockey right now and it's fun to watch and extremely effective. Really excited for us to bring the momentum to Saturday's Pack the Gut game against a very strong Northeastern team."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • O'Hara opened the contest setting a new program record for Vermont women's hockey, scoring just ten seconds into opening puck drop. Upon an offensive rush, Stella Retrum carried the puck into the BU zone, dishing a pass to Kaylee Lewis who rifled a shot towards goal. Lewis' shot missed high, but O'Hara was there, near parallel with the goal line, to get the rebound and snipe in her fifth goal of the season, earning UVM the early one goal lead.
  • The Catamounts doubled their lead 8:32 into the second period while being shorthanded, seeing Retrum outwork a handful of Boston University defenders deep in the Terrier zone, getting the puck to the front of the net where she was able to slap a shot towards the bottom left corner, finding the back of the net for the 12th time this season, earning UVM the 2-0 advantage.
  • Vermont made it 3-0 just 3:44 into the final period when Retrum and O'Hara set up Lewis entering the Boston University zone. Once Lewis reached the top of the circle, she ripped a shot under the blocker of Mari Pietersen, scoring her ninth goal of the season, earning UVM the three-goal cushion.
  • Boston University's Lola Reid had a breakaway opportunity with 4:26 of regulation remaining, but Lily Prendergast shut her down, making her 16th save of the night to keep the Terriers off the scoreboard.
  • The Catamounts tamed the Boston University offensive push as time wound down, securing the 3-0 shutout victory on home ice.
