COACH'S QUOTE

"I think this group stays level-headed," said Mayer Women's Basketball Head Coach Alisa Kresge. "They acknowledged what wasn't going well, how we played last time at home, they acknowledge what's going well, and they take it and run with it. They're just getting more confident in understanding where our areas are that we have to keep working on, and what areas we have to take advantage of. I'm really just proud of them for staying true to who they are and working hard every day, not getting too high and not getting too low."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • At the first media timeout, the Catamounts held a 7-5 lead, with Hanson accounting for all seven points on two close-range jumpers and a three-pointer.

  • Following the timeout, the Catamounts used a 7-3 run to build momentum. Jadyn Weltz sliced through the defense for a driving layup, Hanson added a turnaround jumper in the paint, and Malia Lenz banked in a three-pointer to give the Catamounts a 14-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

  • Binghamton answered with a 15-7 run spanning from the start of the second quarter to the 52-second mark before halftime. Bella Pucci paced the Bearcats with six points during the surge.

  • The Catamounts closed the half on a 6-0 run. Jacklynn Hosier buried a three-pointer from the right wing, Haan made a free throw, and Weltz knocked down a midrange jumper to send the Catamounts into the break with a 27-23 lead.

  • At the first timeout of the third quarter, the Catamounts were in the midst of a 7-3 offensive surge fueled by a Lenz layup, Haan's corner three-pointer, and a Priede layup. They extended their lead to 41-33 by the end of the quarter.

  • Early in the fourth, the Bearcats put together a 12-11 run, with Careltta Bennett scoring four points during the stretch.

  • The Catamounts closed the game on a 9-7 run behind Haan, who connected on a three-pointer off a Weltz assist and converted two free throws to seal the victory.
