CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Vermont women's soccer team (2-2-2) trailed 1-0 in the 53
rd minute against The Citadel, but the match was declared a no contest when play was suspended due to lightning and did not resume within the allotted time outlined by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Soccer rules.
Prior to the delay, The Citadel took a 1-0 lead off a Vermont own goal in the 2
nd minute. In the 53
rd minute, the match was paused due to lightning.
The match will not be resumed or completed.
With the no-contest call, no team result is determined, and all statistics are voided.

7.7.3 If the conditions leading to a suspended game persist and the game is not resumed, the game shall be considered "no contest" if it has not progressed to 70 minutes. A "no contest" does not count, and all normal statistics are nullified except for violent behavior II, fighting and assault on referee red cards, which are subject to associated penalties in Rule 12.
