BURLINGTON, Vt.– Lauren DeGroot and Sydney Remington each recorded a goal for the Catamounts as Vermont (1-2-2) defeated Stonehill (0-3-2) 2-0 at Virtue Field on Sunday afternoon.

 "We had a solid team effort today and are proud of the group for earning a win and shutout at home," said Head Coach Kristi Huizenga. "We've been challenged in different ways each game thus far, and today we got closer to the style we are striving for on both sides of the ball, particularly in the midfield. Kylee and our backs were very solid, and it was great on Lauren and Syd to finish their chances."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the 7^th minute of the match, Emma Warren took a shot from the right side of the box that hit off the crossbar.
• In the 18th minute, Jazlyn Oviedo crossed the ball to the right side of the box, where Lauren DeGroot finished it to the left side, giving Vermont an early 1-0 lead.
• Shortly after, Lauren DeGroot had another goal opportunity, but it was saved by Stonehill.
• At the 31^st minute, Kylee Carafoli made a save from a Stonehill shot from the middle of the box.
• Vermont led Stonehill in shots on goal in the first half, 4-1.
• In the first five minutes of the second half, Kylee Carafoli made a diving save to her right from a Stonehill shot in the left side of the box.
• Stonehill had a two versus one breakaway in the 80^th minute, but they were called offsides.
• In the 83rd minute, Sydney Remington scored from outside the box from a Della Weir pass. The Stonehill goalkeeper got a hand on the shot, but it still found the back of the net.
