COACH'S QUOTE
"I thought it was a dominating performance, from minute one creating high percentage scoring opportunities," said Head Coach Rob Dow. "I felt like we lulled for about five minutes but then we stepped up to another gear. When you score three in the first half as a coach you got to be happy."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts came out the gate firing, seeing shots on goal from Andrew Millar and Maximilian Kissel in the first four minutes, but Ben Alexander stood his ground, keeping Vermont off the scoreboard early in the opening half.
  • Vermont broke through in the 20th minute, seeing Kissel set up Millar beautifully from point blank range in front of the net, giving Alexander zero chance to make the save. The Catamounts took the first half lead, 1-0. Marcell Papp was awarded the secondary assist on the goal.
  • UVM found the back of the net once again in the 30th minute when David Ismail orchestrated a fast break, dishing the ball of to Nick Lockermann who had speed coming in to join the offensive push. Once Alexander committed to Lockermann, he passed the ball to a wide-open Philipp Kuhn who used his right foot to score, securing his first goal as a Catamount, earning Vermont the 2-0 lead.
  • In the 36th minute, the Catamounts pounced again, this time on a corner kick. Gianluca Armellino took the corner, sending it to the middle of the box where Omar Robbana came flying in, using his head to launch the ball into the net, scoring his first goal wearing the Green and Gold, giving UVM a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
  • The Catamounts started the second half right where they left off in the first, scoring their fourth goal of the match in the 50th minute when Niklas Herceg cleared the ball from UVM's defensive zone, finding Papp on the rush who elected to dish the ball to the middle where Kissel was waiting. Kissel pinned a shot with his right foot to the bottom left corner, securing his first goal of the season and giving Vermont a 4-0 lead.
  • Herceg stood tall for the remainder of the match, making four more saves before the 90th minute, maintaining the clean sheet and earning the Catamounts a 4-0 victory on home turf.
