BLACK AND GOLD INVITATIONAL 
Smithfield, R.I – Vermont track and field began a weekend of competition as several athletes competed in the 10k at the Black and Gold Invitational.

"Always a tremendous accomplishment to race a 10K on the track, from a physical and mental toughness standpoint," said head coach Matt Belfield. "Today was a challenge for sure, but four of our women completed their debut and held strong throughout.  Special mention to veterans Laura (first sub-40-minute 10K) and Amelia for a significant personal best as well."

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Erica Eastman was 11th with a time of 39:16.11.
• Laura O'Brien placed 12th with a time of 39:40.24.
• Isabelle Fleuette came in 15th with a time of 40:26.84.
• Cassandra Royer finished 17th as she ran 40:40.37.
• Amelia Bohling earned 18th as she ran 41:12.03.
• Ava Engstrom was 19th, with a time of 41:30.29.
• Shea Cushing placed 20th, running 42:18.89.

UP NEXT
The Catamounts will return to action tomorrow as they compete in the UMass Lowell Invite and Livingstone Invite.

UPDATE: Due to the road conditions in Vermont with the winter storm the Catamounts will not be competing at UMass Lowell on Saturday.
