Women's Basketball Max Robison

Women’s Basketball Hosts UMass Lowell in Annual Catamount Classroom Game

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont (6-10, 1-1 AE) hosts UMass Lowell (2-12, 0-2 AE) on Jan. 9 for their annual Catamount Classroom game presented by Energy Efficient Investments. The game will tip off at 11:00 a.m. ET and be streamed live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan and Bernie Cieplicki on the call.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network from Learfield on WVMT, which will air on 96.3 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 620 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App, and Ryan Zimmerman is on the call.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Catamounts defeat New Hampshire, 72-52 in their last game.
  • Bella Vito was Vermont's leading scorer with a career-high 16 points. Catherine Gilwee and Nikola Priede were the other Catamounts in double figures with 10 each.
  • Vito and Priede led Vermont in rebounds with six each, while Anna Olson was second with five.
  • Gilwee led the Catamounts in assists with five, the sixth time this season she has had at least five in a game.
  • Vermont holds a 13-9 series lead and has won seven straight meetings.
  • The Catamounts won both meetings last season, including last year's Catamount Classroom, 62-53. This year will be the third consecutive year that Vermont has faced the River Hawks in this game.  
  • This season, Olson is Vermont's leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points per game. Keira Hanson and  Vito are second and third, averaging 9.5 and 9.4 per game, respectively.
  • Vito leads the Catamounts on the boards with 6.3 per game. Olson and Malia Lenz are second and third, averaging 5.2 and 3.8 per game, respectively.
 
SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
  • UMass Lowell has dropped their conference games this season, falling to UAlbany and Maine.
  • The River Hawks went 2-10 in nonconference play and shared three common opponents with Vermont in Holy Cross, Minnesota, and Dartmouth. They lost all three of those games.
  • They were picked seventh in the America East preseason poll this year.
  • Abbey Lindsey is their leading scorer, averaging 10.7 points per game. Rayne Durant and Sydney Watkins are second and third, averaging 9.9 and 8.3 points, respectively.
  • Maddie Rice is their top rebounder at 6.9 per game. Durant and Watkins are second and third, averaging 5.4 and 5.1, respectively.
  • Additionally, Watkins is one of the best ball hawks in the nation as she averages 3.4 steals per game, which is 10th in the country, and her 48 steals are ninth most in the country.
  • The Wildcats return three of their leading scorers from a year ago in Lindsey, Watkins, and Durant.
  • Watkins was their top rebounder a year ago, with Durant and Rice the others to return.
