Women's Basketball Max Robison

Women's Basketball Prepares to Host New Hampshire

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont (5-10, 0-1 AE) hosts New Hampshire (6-8, 0-1 AE) for their America East home opener. The game will tip off at 2:00 p.m. ET and be streamed live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan and Bernie Cieplicki on the call.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network from Learfield on WVMT, which will air on 96.3 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 620 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App, and Ryan Zimmerman is on the call.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Catamounts opened conference play with a 64-55 loss to UAlbany.  
  • Anna Olson was Vermont's leading scorer with 19 points. At the same time, Bella Vito and Catherine Gilwee were the other Catamounts in double figures with 13 and 10, respectively.
  • Vito led Vermont in rebounds with 11, which marks her first double-double of the season.
  • Olson led the Catamounts in assists with six, a season-high and one off her career-high of seven.
  • Vermont holds a 52-40 series lead and has won nine of the last ten and seven straight.
  • The Catamounts won both meetings last season, including a 34-point victory in their final meeting.
  • Olson is Vermont's leading scorer this season, averaging 14.6 points per game. Keira Hanson and  Vito are second and third, averaging 9.5 and 8.9 per game, respectively.
  • Vito leads the Catamounts on the boards with 6.3 per game. Olson and Malia Lenz are second and third, averaging 5.2 and 3.9 per game, respectively.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
  • New Hampshire also dropped their conference opener, falling to Bryant, 61-49.
  • The Wildcats went 5-8 in nonconference play and shared two common opponents with Vermont in Holy Cross and Dartmouth. New Hampshire fell to Holy Cross and defeated Dartmouth.
  • They were picked last in the America East preseason poll this year.
  • Eva DeChant is their leading scorer as she averages 18 points per game, which leads the conference and is 54th best in the nation. Maggie Cavanaugh and Clara Gomez are second and third, averaging 6.5 and 5.7 points, respectively.
  • Gomez is their top rebounder at 7.5 per game. Cavanaugh and Lucia Melero Sabat are second and third, respectively, averaging 5.2 and 3.8 per game.
  • The Wildcats return three of their leading scorers from a year ago in Gomez, Belen Morales Lopez, and Adara Groman.
  • Gomez was their top rebounder a year ago, with Morales Lopez, Cavanaugh, and Kenzie Matulonis the others to return.
