COACH'S QUOTE
"We had a slow start, everything that we talked about before the game, that we wanted to execute, did not happen," said Head Coach Kristi Huizenga. "It got better at halftime, but we obviously didn't take care of what we needed to do."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colgate got off to a hot start, scoring in the 6th minute when Paige Foa found Cate Childers, scoring her first goal of the season to give Colgate an early lead, 1-0. Maya Greenholz was also rewarded an assist on the goal.
- In the next 15 minutes, Jill Brody was able to dial up two shots along with Sydney Remington creating a shot of her own, but each one just narrowly missed the net.
- The Raiders doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Ari Bezanson was able to maneuver her shot through multiple defenders, pinning the bottom right corner to give Colgate a two-goal cushion.
- Three minutes later in the 53rd minute, Jordan Juetten made it 3-0 in favor of the Raiders after being fed the ball from Ellie Stokes in front of a wide-open net, earning Colgate the three goal lead.
- In the 77th minute, Lauren DeGroot broke free finding herself all alone with just the goalkeeper to beat, but she placed her shot just high of the net, keeping Vermont off the scoreboard.
- Aubrey Bough had two opportunities in the 85th and 86th minute to give the Catamounts their first tally, but both shots were off target as Colgate ran away with the 3-0 victory at Virtue Field.
