SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC has split its two last games, earning a 114-102 regulation victory over UAlbany last Saturday, before suffering a 93-80 loss to UMass Lowell. The Retrievers have suffered losses in each of their last three games and sit in a tie for eighth in the America East standings. UMBC's high-powered offense averages 79.1 points per game, which ranks fourth in the conference. The Retrievers rank eighth in scoring defense, allowing 82.4 points per game in league play. Reigning America East Co-Player of the Week, Dion Brown, leads UMBC with 22.4 points per game, which is second in the conference. The guard is tied for the league lead in rebounding (9.7 rpg).

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and UMBC meet for the 52nd time in series history on Thursday night. The Catamounts hold a dominating 42-9 series lead and have won eight of the last 10 meetings. UVM is 17-4 when visiting UMBC. The Catamounts took a 77-72 victory over the Retrievers on Jan. 11 at Patrick Gym.
TJ Hurley led the Cats with a season-high 14 points in the home win.

UVM boasts a league-best 60.0 scoring defense in America East play through nine games. Only three teams in the country have allowed fewer points per game in conference play this season: Saint Mary's (57.0), Lafayette (59.5), and Virginia (59.8).

Vermont has been one of the best teams in the country at taking care of the ball, ranking fifth in turnovers per game (9.0). The Cats have averaged a league-best 8.3 turnovers per game in America East play.
