BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont Women's Basketball begins play in the Cancun Challenge on Thursday (Nov. 28) against Idaho State. The game will tip off at 4:00 p.m. ET. On Friday night, the Catamounts will play Rice in their second game, set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Vermont lost both its games in the Alaska shootout, losing to North Dakota State 58-50 and Alaska Anchorage 68-52. Â
- Anna Olson led the Catamounts in scoring in both games, with 13 against the Bison and 18 versus the Seawolves.
- Malia Lenz led Vermont in rebounds against North Dakota State with a career-high nine rebounds. Bella Vito led the Catamounts on the boards against Alaska Anchorage with nine, which she has done twice this season.
- The Catamounts have never faced Rice or Idaho State, but they have faced teams in each of the respective conferences. They hold a 4-6 record against the conferences they will face on the field, with two wins over East Carolina and Idaho.
- Olson is Vermont's leading scorer this season, averaging 15.7 points. Hanson and Vito are second and third, with 9.7 and 8.7 points, respectively.
- Olson currently sits second in the America East in field goal percentage at 59.7%, which is also good for 35th in the country.
- Olson, Vito, and Lenz lead the Catamounts in rebounding, averaging 5.9, 5.9, and 4.9, respectively.
- Vermont is in the middle of a six-game, 21-day road trip that will see them travel over 9,600 miles in the 21 days. They are one of 25 teams in the NCAA this season to have a road trip of 20 days or more.

- Idaho State has opened the season 2-4 with wins over Arizona Christian and Westminister.
- Halle Wright leads the Bengals in scoring, averaging 11.5 per game. Nika Lokica and Piper Carlson are second and third, averaging 10.3 and 8.7 points per game.
- Kacey Spink leads Idaho State in rebounding, averaging 7.3 per game. Carlson and Wright average 6.0 and 5.2 per game, respectively.
- The Bengals return two of its five leading scorers from a year ago. Spink is the leading returner after putting up 8.0 points per game. Wright is the other returner after putting up 7.1 points per game.
- Spink and Wright are the leading rebounders to return after Spink led Idaho State a year ago with 6.9 rebounds per game, while Wright was fifth with 3.2 per game.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
- Rice has opened the season with a record of 4-2 and will play BYU on Thursday (Nov. 28) before playing the Catamounts. The Owls enter the Cancun Challenge having won their last five, with their only loss coming to Gonzaga on Nov. 21.
- Dominique Ennis leads Rice in scoring, averaging 11.8 per game. Sussy Ngulefac and Hailey Adams are second and third in scoring, averaging ten and nine points per game.
- Adams leads the Owls in rebounding with 8.5 boards per game. Ngulefac is second, grabbing 6.3 per game, while Aniah Alexis is third with 4.2 per game.
- Rice returns four of their five leading scorers from a year ago, with Malia Fisher (13.1 ppg) as the top scorer. Ennis (11.4 ppg), Jazzy Owens-Barnett (7.1 ppg), and Emily Klaczek (6.5 ppg) are the others to return.
- Fisher is the leading rebounder back after she grabbed 6.9 boards per game last year. Adams (4.8 rbg), Shelby Hayes (3.8 rbg), Ngulefac (3.6 rbg), and Klaczek (3.5 rbg) are also back as the Owls return their five top rebounders from a year ago.
