COACH'S QUOTE
"We were happy with our performance tonight and to earn another three points," said Head Coach Kristi Huizenga. "The quality of all three goals was excellent and happy for the team to continue our strong attacking presence. Our backs and midfield did a great job moving the ball tonight and on the opposite side of the ball showed great motivation to preserve the shutout."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts wasted no time striking first, scoring in the 3rd minute of action when Sydney Remington broke free down the far sideline, dishing the ball off to Brody who took one touch and unleashed a laser to the top left corner for her second goal of the season, earning Vermont the early 1-0 lead.
- Vermont doubled its lead in the 13th minute when Bailey Ayer broke free up the middle, ripping a shot in stride from way outside the box, pinning the ball over the UAlbany goalies head for her 10th goal of the season, giving the Catamounts a 2-0 advantage.
- Just as time was expiring in the first half, UAlbany earned a corner kick attempt, placing the ball on the head of Sydney Kofton who directed her attempt to the bottom right corner, but Ayer was there to lock down the corner and boot the ball away, maintaining the Catamount lead, 2-0, heading into halftime.
- In the 66th minute, Ayer scored her second goal of the game, 11th of the season, after corralling a pass from Remington in the box, quickly sniping a shot to the bottom right corner to earn Vermont the 3-0 second half lead.
- The Catamounts tamed any offensive push applied by the Great Danes for the remainder of the match, as Vermont defeated UAlbany 3-0 on home turf from Virtue Field.
