MOST CONSECUTIVE CONFERENCE WINS
Vermont leads the nation with 17 straight conference wins, with the opportunity to keep the streak alive Saturday against NJIT. The College of Charleston sits behind UVM with 13 straight conference wins in the Coastal Athletic Association.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT enters Saturday afternoon's matchup having lost two straight conference games against UAlbany (L,79-73) and UMass Lowell (L, 70-62). The Highlanders last win came on New Year's Eve when they defeated Morgan State 69-53. Elijah Buchanan, Adam Hess, and Tariq Francis lead NJIT in scoring, averaging 11.9, 11.6, and 11.1 points per game, respectively. The Highlanders play aggressively when it comes to offensive rebounding, coming into Saturday's matchup as a top three rebounding team in the America East earning 11.7 offensive rebounds a game, 164 total so far this season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and NJIT meet for the 13th time in series history on Saturday afternoon. The Catamounts hold a dominating 11-1 series lead and have won the last six consecutive meetings against the Highlanders. Vermont swept the three meetings last year winning 85-69 and 84-57 at Patrick Gymnasium, as well as an 82-80 overtime win in Newark, N.J.
Aaron Deloney scored 16 points in 24 minutes in the Catamounts' most recent home victory over the Highlanders.
HOME VS AE
Vermont has won 24 straight home games against America East schools. UVM's last home loss to a conference foe came on Mar. 6, 2021, when Hartford won the America East Semifinals by a score of 71-65 in the COVID-altered season. The Cats are 36-2 at Patrick Gym since the start of 2021-22 and 93-10 (.903) since 2016-17.
CARDIAC CATS
Two of the last four UVM games have been decided by one point. Vermont is 3-1 this season in games decided by two points or less. The Catamounts are 5-3 when trailing at the half. UVM looks to extend its win streak to four games, which will be the longest streak since the beginning of the 2023-24 season when they started with six consecutive wins in a row.
ILERI'S IMPACT DURING THE WINNING STREAK
Ileri Ayo-Faleye has averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in the last three UVM wins. In each of those three wins, he has averaged 10.3 points in the second half, shooting 11-for-18 from the field. He has led the Cats in scoring in each of the those second halves.
IN A WINNING CLASS
Vermont has boasted a 182-55 record dating since the start of the 2016-17 season, and have boasted the fifth highest winning percentage (.768) in the nation. Only Gonzaga (.890), Houston (.821), Kansas (.806), and Duke (.770) have higher winning percentages during that stretch.
