BOSTON – The Catamounts (0-1-0) fell to Boston University (1-0-0) 1-0 on Thursday night at Nickerson Field. Despite a second half push Vermont could not overcome the first half goal scored by the Terriers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts pressed Boston University early forcing back-to-back corners in the 19th minute, but Terriers' goalkeeper Celia Braun kept the second attempt out with a diving save.
- Giulianna Gianino struck first for the Terriers on a penalty kick in the 35th minute to give Boston University a 1-0 lead.
- A minute later the Terriers had a breakaway down the left hand side with Samantha Aronson, but Kylee Carafoli made a leaping save to push the ball over the net and keep the game at 1-0.
- Vermont almost tied the contest in the 52nd minute with a breakaway from Jill Brody, but again Braun denied the shot.
- In the 59th minute the Catamounts had a free kick that bounced around the box for their best chance of the night with Kate Bossert sending a shot toward the right post, but a diving Braun made the save to keep Vermont off the scoresheet.
- Vermont, maintaining a good portion of the possession in the second half, continued to press and with Lauren DeGroot making a through run in the 75th minute it looked like the Catamounts could tie it, but Braun came up with the save for the Terriers.
- The Catamounts had a chance with a Jill Brody corner in the 90th minute but it was headed away by a Boston University defender.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Carafoli played all 90 minutes for the Catamounts registering six saves.
- Bossert recorded two shots on goal to lead Vermont.
- Lauren DeGroot came off the bench for Vermont and consistently made runs behind the Terriers back line leading to one shot on goal and a great breakaway chance in the 75th minute.
