Women’s Basketball Face Army on the Road on Wednesday Evening

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
The Catamounts (5-4) will start a two-game road trip against Army (2-5) in West Point, N.Y. on Wednesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The Catamounts matchup with the Black Knights will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on WVMT, which will air on 96.3 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 620 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App with Ryan Zimmerman on the call.

GAME WORN MILITARY APPRECIATION JERSEYS 
The Catamounts wore special edition jerseys for their Military Appreciation Night, presented by Milton CAT on Thursday (Nov. 30) against Dartmouth. These game-worn jerseys became available for auction online, at tip-off Thursday night. The auction is open until this Thursday (Dec. 7) at 6 p.m. with all proceeds benefitting the Josh Pallota Fund.  
 
AMONG THE BEST IN AMERICA EAST
Vermont ranks second among America East teams in three point percentage allowed (26.7 percent), first in points allowed (51.9) third in assist to turnover ratio (0.96) and first in opponent field goal percentage (36.6 percent). Bella Vito is fourth and leads all guards in the conference in rebounding at 7.4 per game. Emma Utterback is fourth in the conference in scoring at 15.1 points per game while Anna Olson is 11th at 11.2 points per game. Olson leads the America East in field goal percentage with a 58.5 percent clip per game and Utterback is eighth at 44.6 percent per game. Utterback is also second in the conference with 4.2 assists per game. Delaney Richason is fourth in the America East with 1.1 blocks per game and is third with 10 overall blocks.
 
TOP NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Catamounts three point percentage of 26.7 percent allowed is 16th in the country while their field goal percentage is also 16th. Vermont's turnover per game is tied for 36th in the country while their 51.9 points per game allowed is tied 13th nationally. Vermont is also ranked in the top 100 (T-93) in blocks per game. Olson's 58.5 percent shooting from the floor is 34th in the nation.
 
SCOUTING ARMY
The Black Knights are averaging 58.6 points per game on 34.9 percent shooting from the floor and 21.5 percent from three. Army is surrendering 67.3 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting and 24.9 percent shooting from deep. Junior guard Trinity Hardy leads the Black Knights with 12.6 points per game and is third on the team with 4.6 boards per game. Kya Smith leads Army in rebounding at 7.6 per game alongside 10.3 points per contest. Sophomore Reese Ericson is first on the team averaging 2.1 assists per game while being second on the team in scoring at 10.6 per contest.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the eighth matchup all-time between the Black Knights and the Catamounts with the first meeting coming in November 1980. The Black Knights hold a 4-3 advantage in the series versus the Catamounts. Army won the first four matchups from 1980 to 1984 while Vermont has won the last three meetings with two coming in 1991 and one in 2022. Last season, Vermont defeated Army 60-37 at Patrick Gym behind a career-high 26 points from Olson. Utterback also registered eight points with three assists and three steals in that game.
 
WHO'S NEXT
Vermont will conclude their trip with Manhattan on Saturday, December 9 at 12 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the game through the radio broadcast via the Varsity Network App with the voice of Catamounts women's basketball, Ryan Zimmerman, on the call.
