COACH'S QUOTE
"We were not happy to give up a goal today, especially off a corner, but I thought we responded well to dig out another valuable point and result on the rod," said Head Coach
Kristi Huizenga. "Our players who subbed into the game were able to make a big impact and helped us stay composed and keep control when we needed it."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first opportunity of the day came for the bulldogs, when Emma Pedolzky almost made it 1-0, but the shot sailed just high over the bar. The next chance came for Vermont in the 36th minute when Sydney Remington received the ball in the midfield and fired a long-range shot that was saved by Kathryn NcNeil (6 saves) but dropped. On the rebound, the ball ended up with Olivia White, who launched another shot from the top of the 18-yard box that was kept out by a diving save to keep the score 0-0 going into halftime.
- Bryant put early pressure on Vermont with two corners in the first three minutes of the second half. Makayla Griffin started the scoring with a goal in the 48th minute off a corner on an assist from Emma Pedolzky, to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.
- The Catamounts answered back knotting the score up in the 72nd minute off a set piece. Jill Brody was taken down just outside the box, leading to a free kick for Natalie Durieux. Durieux lifted the ball just past the wall, where Brody was able to beat her defender, and connect her foot to the ball, sending it off the keeper just inside the left-hand goalpost to tie the score at one apiece.
- The teams traded blows over the final 18 minutes, with each team pressuring the other and registering a shot on net, but neither could change the final score (1-1).
