ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany hit five three-pointers in the second half Tuesday night to pull away from Vermont in a 67-54 Great Danes win in the America East Semifinals from SEFCU Arena. UAlbany advances to the America East Championship where they will travel to face Maine on Friday at 5 p.m. in a game broadcast on ESPNU. The Catamounts finish the 2021-22 campaign with a record of 20-11, it was their first 20-win campaign in 12 years.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont jumped out to a 4-0 lead 1:13 into the game with a driving layup from Emma Utterback and a pullup jumper from Catherine Gilwee. The Great Danes responded with a 12-2 run to take a six-point lead with 1:08 to go in the first quarter. In the final 44 seconds of the quarter Sarah Wells converted a put back and Delaney Richason hit a three-pointer in the dying seconds to make it a one-point game after the first quarter.
- Midway through the second quarter the Catamounts used a 10-2 run to take a 21-17 lead in the contest. Josie Larkins and Gilwee hit back-to-back three-pointers and Wells converted a steal into a breakaway layup. The Great Danes responded with an 11-2 run over 2:52 to take a 28-23 lead into the break.
- Anna Olson had eight points in the third quarter for the Catamounts but the Great Danes scored the final five of the quarter to take a ten-point lead into the final frame. Helene Haegerstrand's second three of the quarter gave the Great Danes their first double-digit lead with just two seconds left.
- The Great Danes hit two more triples in the opening 2:30 of the fourth quarter to take a game-high 16-point lead with 7:31 left in the contest. There was no quit in the Catamounts, they dialed up full-court pressure and cut into the lead. Vermont used an 8-0 run with five points from Utterback and another Richason three-pointer to cut the UAlbany lead in half with 2:14 to go.
- Vermont was able to cut the lead to seven a couple of times in the final moments but were unable to complete the comeback.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tuesday was First Team All-Conference guard Emma Utterback's eighth straight game with 13 or more points for the Catamounts. She finishes the season as UVM's top scorer averaging 13.5 points per game. Utterback also had a game-high seven assists for the Catamounts.
- Tuesday night was just the fourth game this season where UAlbany hit nine or more three-pointers.
- The Great Danes remain undefeated at home in the conference tournament. Since 2012 they are 14-0 at SEFC Arena in the postseason. UAlbany finishes the season 16-1 at SEFCU Arena.
- Tonight, was just the second game all season where Delaney Richason (11 Pts) reached double figures and the Catamounts lost. UVM finishes the season 14-2 when Richason scored 10 or more.
