BURLINGTON, Vt. – A run of seven-straight goals in the middle of the game powered Vermont (3-1) to a 10-6 victory over Wagner (0-4) on Sunday at Virtue Field. The Catamounts secured their first win in a home opener since 2014.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. Wagner opened the scoring 58 seconds in, but Riley Halloran answered just over four minutes later. The Seahawks quickly regained the lead with 10:11 remaining in the frame on Maria Henwood's go-ahead marker. Ava Vasile closed out the first quarter with a pair of goals in the final 3:41.
- Wagner opened the second frame with three straight goals to grab a 5-3 lead with 3:34 left in the quarter. McKenzie Ballard countered 30 seconds later for the Catamounts and Kerry Gerety notched the equalizer with 43 seconds left in the half. Vasile would put UVM in front 11 seconds later for a 6-5 halftime lead.
- Vermont's scoring run continued in the third quarter with goals from Vasile and Ballard. UVM outshot the Seahawks 9-4 in the frame, with Sophie McLaughlin (9 saves) making two stops for Vermont.
- The Catamounts added two more goals in the final 2:17 of the fourth quarter to bring their goal total to 10. Vermont's defense nearly held Wagner scoreless for the entire second half, until a Seahawks goal that came with two seconds left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vasile registered three or more goals for the fourth straight game, posting a game-high four tallies. The junior directed six shots on goal to lead the Catamounts.
- Halloran and Ballard both scored their two goals on three shots each. Both of Ballard's shots on goal found the back of the net.
- Gerety, O'Connor, Mullen, and Adelhelm all registered assists in the afternoon contest.
- Carolyn Carrera picked up a team-high five rebounds and caused three turnovers. Charlotte Nevins and Camille Argentieri also registered three caused turnovers.
- Vermont outshot Wagner 34-22, and 13-6 in the second half. The Catamounts held the Seahawks scoreless for a 33:32 span.
