WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
Vermont (1-3) will continue their November homestand and start off their Thanksgiving week hosting Army (1-3) at Patrick Gym on Monday, November 21. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. JERSEY AUCTION
On Tuesday November 15th in their matchup with AIC, the team wore special edition Military Appreciation jerseys that are being auctioned off online, which started at the tip-off of that game. CATAMOUNTS AT PATRICK
The Catamounts are 1-1 at Patrick Gym on the young season having defeated AIC 68-46 and fell to Delaware in a hard-fought 58-53 defeat. At home Vermont is averaging 60.5 points per game and allowing just 52.0 points per contest. UVM has seen a balanced attack at home with four players averaging 8.0 points or more per contest. The Catamounts are led by junior Anna Olson who has recorded averages of 14.5 points, 6.0 boards, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists per home game this season. Senior co-captain Emma Utterback has been a big contributor averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in her two games at Patrick this season. Catherine Gilwee is averaging 9.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game at Patrick this season. While senior co-captain Delaney Richason is averaging a team-high 8.0 boards per game at home to go along with 8.5 points and 1.5 steals per contest.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Army will meet for the seventh time in series history and the first time since 1991-92 season. The Catamounts got a 73-56 win at West Point that season and after winning the year before 70-65 Vermont is now looking to make it three straight wins against the Black Knights on Monday night at Patrick Gym. Overall, the Catamounts are 2-4 in the series, having one the last two matchups, and are 1-2 at Patrick Gym.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Army opened its season with a 77-53 win against Emmanuel College on Nov. 7. The Black Knights were projected to finish 5th in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. Army is led by star Senior Forward Sabria Hunter, who averaged 10.9 points and 9.5 rebounds last season, awarding her Patriot League All-Second Team honors. Hunter is averaging 16.8 points and 11.5 rebounds in the first four games of the season. Army is also led with the help of first year guard Reese Ericson, who is averaging 10.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Senior Hall Kamryn is averaging 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in just 23.3 minutes of action for Army. The Black Knights are looking to break a three game losing streak at Patrick Gym. Army comes into Monday's matchup following a 71-66 loss versus Yale on Wednesday, November 16.
UP NEXT
Following Monday's showdown with Army the Catamounts will host the annual TD Bank Classic Tournament at Patrick Gym on Saturday (Nov. 26) and Sunday (Nov. 27). The four team tournament field will include Vermont, Siena, Stonehill and Oakland, with Vermont and Stonehill squaring off and Siena and Oakland matching up on Saturday. The Catamounts and the Skyhawks will be the first matchup of the tournament with the start time schedule for 12 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies and Saints will square off at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the two losing teams will compete at 12 p.m. for the consolation game and the two winners will face off in the championship game at 3 p.m.
