BURLINGTON, VT – Emma Utterback scored a game-high and season-high 22 points against AIC to help the Catamounts to a 68-46 victory at Patrick Gym on Military Appreciation Night presented by Milton CAT. The Catamounts improve to 1-2 on the season while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-3 on the young campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emma Utterback started out the Catamounts scoring with a three pointer in the opening minute. The Catamounts battled back-and-forth with the Yellow Jackets in the first three plus minutes of the first quarter with the two teams deadlocked at 5-5 with 6:16 remaining. Vermont used a 15-7 run to end the first quarter and extend their lead to 20-12 behind Emma Utterback's season quarter-high nine points.
- The Catamounts and Yellow Jackets both struggled to get their offense going to start the second quarter with Vermont outscoring AIC 6-3 over the first five and a half minutes. However, the Catamounts found their rhythm over the final four and a half minutes of play and went on a 10-2 run to close out the second quarter with a 30-18 lead. Vermont finished the quarter with two shots behind the arc from Delaney Richardson and Carla Celaya with a layup from Anna Olson in the middle of the two treys.
- UVM came out of halftime hot scoring on their first possession with an Utterback jump shot and, then after AIC answered, Anna Olson delivered a put back layup on the other end to put the Catamounts up 37-20 with 8:39 remaining. Vermont would go on to outscore the Yellow Jackets 18-9 in the third quarter extending their lead to 51-27 after the third stanza. Utterback and Olson each delivered seven points in the quarter.
- Vermont played incredible defense in the second half as they did not allow a field goal made and gave up just two free throws to the Yellow Jackets in the last 6:38 of the third quarter.
- The Catamounts opened the fourth quarter with a layup by Anna Olson on an assist from Emma Utterback. The two teams would then go back and forth for the next 6:08 with the Catamounts outscoring the Yellow Jackets 10-9 and holding a 60-37 lead with 3:52 remaining.
- Over the final 3:52 the teams again traded blows with Vermont outscoring AIC 11-9 behind three pointers from Catherine Gilwee, Paula Gonzalez and Maria Myklebust.

- Emma Utterback recorded a game-high 22 points and eight assists on a very efficient 8-13 shooting.
- Anna Olson registered 13 points and seven rebounds.
- Delaney Richason recorded a game-high nine rebounds to go along with seven points and two steals.
- First year Carla Celaya had five points and seven rebounds across 20 minutes of action.
- Vermont registered 19 offensive rebounds on route to dominating the glass 49-28 over AIC.
- Vermont lead the game for 91.4 percent of the time and outscored the Yellow Jackets 30-22 in the paint.
