INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the first ever matchup between Vermont and Miami (OH). The Catamounts are familiar with the Mid-American Conference (MAC) having faced off with their teams 13 times over the years with a record of 8-5 overall. UVM last defeated a MAC opponent on November 14, 2009, when they faced Western Michigan in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Catamounts came out with a 79-65 victory in that matchup. Vermont has played seven of the 12 current members of the MAC conference owning a .500 or better record against five of those seven.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami (OH) is led by sophomore guard Maddi Cluse who scored a career-high 24 points in just 24 minutes in their season-opener against Xavier. The Musketeers came away with the victory 87-68 capitalizing on a strong second half that saw them outscore the Redhawks by 16. Cluse averaged 6.5 points and 4.4 rebounds a season ago starting in 16 of 26 games for Miami (OH). Fellow sophomore Ivy Wolf added 17 points, a game-high six steals, five assists and three rebounds in 36 minutes for the Redhawks. Wolf started and played in all 29 games for Miami (OH) last season as a first year, averaging 12.6 points to go along with 3.3 boards and 3.0 assists. Senior forward Amani Freeman added six points and six rebounds in the defeat. Freeman has played in 51 career games for the Redhawks with averages of 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds but looks to continue her takeover of the starting roll, having started 11 of the 12 games she played in last season.
