COACH'S QUOTE
"We had some tough luck to start the game and additionally, did not settle into our typical rhythm of play the remainder of the first half," said Head Coach Kristi Huizenga. "I thought we did well to put two on the board in the second half but collapsed defensively when we need to be able to hold a lead. It was a still a nice weekend to welcome back our alums who have worked so hard to make the program what it is, and to honor our nine seniors for their contributions the last four years."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Black Bears got the scoring started with a penalty kick goal by Abby Kraemer in the 14th minute. She was able to just slip the shot into the left-hand corner past a diving Erin Murphy.
  • The Catamounts came out with pressure in the second half taking control of the game with two straight goals. The first goal came from Kate Bossert on a breakaway goal down the left hand side that was assisted on by Sydney Remington. Remington was able to take a turnover and skip a pass over to Bossert on the left side who then made a move and launched a shot into the lower right-hand corner of the net to knot the game at 1-1 in the 52nd minute.
  • Vermont would score again in the 72nd minute on senior Nicky Constant's remarkable heading goal. Jill Brody received a pass down the right hand side, made a move past her defender and sent a cross into the box where a waiting Constant outmuscled her defender and put a header into the back of the net, to put UVM up 2-1.
  • Maine would answer back with two goals in quick succession. Myla Schneider finished on a one-two combo pass from Emma Donovan in the 73rd minute. Donovan would then play another through ball in the 78th minute to Kraemer for her second goal of the match. That goal would prove to be the game winning goal, as the score stayed at 3-2 until the clock ran out.
