BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont women's soccer used a second half goal from
Karen Wallace to hand Hartford just their second loss of the season in a 1-0 decision Wednesday afternoon at Virtue Field. With the victory the Catamounts improve to 4-6-2 (0-2-2 AE) on the season while Hartford falls to 8-2-1.

Kristi Huizenga. "We had a flurry of opportunities, and it was great to capitalize. Hartford has some dangerous players and I thought we handled them well defensively."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts and Hartford played a scoreless first half with both teams registering eight shots.
- Vermont struck first on a fast break in the 54th when Nicky Constant swung the ball out wide to Kate Bossert. Bossert then put the ball across the front of net to the back post where Karen Wallace connected with a shot on the end of her run into the open right hand corner. Constant and Bossert were credited with the rare double assist to give Vermont the 1-0 lead.
- In the 65th minute Imani Jenkins almost tied the score 1-1 for the Hawks, but the ball caromed off the crossbar and out.
- The Catamounts used constant second half pressure, including four corner kicks, to maintain their 1-0 lead to the end.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hartford had an 18-12 shots advantage with a seven to four shots on goal advantage over Vermont.
- The Catamounts held the advantage in corners 7-4.
- Karen Wallace scored her second goal of the season while Kate Bossert and Nicky Constant each registered their second assist on the campaign.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to COTS, the Committee on Temporary Shelter, as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Since the campaigns inauguration in 2017, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group has donated over $72,000 to local non-profits.
- Erin Murphy and Kylee Carafoli combined for seven saves to keep the clean sheet for the Cats'.
