BANGOR, Maine. – Maine's Anne Simon had 15 points and six steals leading the Black Bears to a 58-37 win over Vermont Sunday afternoon in America East action from the Cross Insurance Arena. With the win, Maine improved to 5-3 in league play while the Catamounts fell to 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caroline Bornemann hit two three-pointers in the first quarter as Maine jumped out to an early lead. The Black Bears used an 9-0 run to take a 14-5 edge after the first quarter.
- After three early points in the second quarter for Emma Utterback and Catherine Gilwee the Black Bears used another 9-0 run to take an 25-11 advantage. Maine carried a 36-20 edge into halftime.
- Maine shot 50% in the third quarter and kept Vermont off the board building their advantage to 52-20.
- In the fourth quarter Bella Vito and Marissa McDonald led the way for the Catamounts. McDonald posted a new career-high with four points in eight minutes while Vito had five points. Vermont won the final quarter 17-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- For the third time in the last four games Emma Utterback was UVM's leading scorer. She had 11 points, three rebounds, one steal, one assist and one blocked shot.
- First year Aryana Dizon matched a career-high with two blocked shots Sunday. In the last six games she has six blocked shots in 64 minutes of game action.

The Catamounts are back on the road this week as they travel to NJIT on Wednesday, February 2.
